Developed in collaboration with Koa Smith, the Mini Ghost is a compact, high-performance interpretation of one of his go-to models, the Ghost. Designed as a short, chunky, and highly responsive board, it blends speed, maneuverability, and everyday usability for smaller surf conditions.
Inspired by Koa’s preference for riding ultra-short boards on smaller North Shore days, the Mini Ghost carries additional volume to improve paddle power, stability, and overall functionality without sacrificing performance.
Starting from Koa’s 5'9 Ghost template, the design was condensed into a shorter version (5’5) with slightly increased width, a flatter deck, and fuller, boxier rails to enhance float and maintain responsiveness. A modern beak nose adds extra foam beneath the chest and through the forward section of the board, improving paddling efficiency and wave entry.
Subtle rocker adjustments help maintain drive and control, while tail options include either a round tail or a wider bump squash, both optimized for speed and flow in smaller, weaker waves.
Built for progressive surfing and fast direction changes, the Mini Ghost also remains accessible for intermediate surfers thanks to its forgiving feel and balanced volume distribution.
The Mini Ghost is intended to be ridden approximately 3 to 4 inches shorter than your standard shortboard while keeping a similar overall volume, delivering a lively and versatile ride across a wide variety of wave types and everyday conditions.
