Since its introduction, the Highline has become a staple in the contest quivers of surfers such as Tyler Wright, who secured back-to-back podium finishes at Bells Beach on her 5'8" Highline.
Built to perform in everything from average to quality waves, the Highline takes its roots from our highly regarded and versatile “74” model, famously linked to Dane Reynolds’ victory in the Stab in the Dark.
The rocker profile remains true to the original design, while the foil and outline have been refined to fit a more progressive HPSB (High Performance Shortboard) approach.
Underneath, the board features a medium/high nose rocker paired with a medium tail rocker, delivering extra drive through weaker or sluggish sections. A full single concave runs throughout the bottom, blending into a double concave between the fins. Together, these contours create lift for fast acceleration, maintain speed and drive, and allow smooth rail-to-rail transitions.
The outline carries its wide point slightly behind center, complemented by a defined hip that enhances drive while creating a natural pivot point for tight, vertical surfing. Similar to the “74”, the deck is kept slightly flatter than many of our other models, with extra foam distributed toward the rails. The rails themselves stay refined rather than boxy, keeping the board responsive, sensitive, and easy to control through turns.
Compared to the Radius - a model that sits close to the Highline within our range - the Radius incorporates more overall rocker and is better suited to steeper, more powerful waves with added curve in the face.
The Highline, by contrast, carries a flatter rocker through both nose and tail, helping it generate and maintain speed more efficiently in softer conditions while still offering enough curve for effortless vertical surfing.
Stock dimensions on the Highline also include slightly more width and overall volume per size - generally around 0.5 to 1 liter extra - providing additional float and carry in smaller surf.
In short, the Highline is a true high-performance shortboard designed to maximize speed, flow, and responsiveness in waves ranging from below-average to genuinely good conditions.
