The Grom Shadow is a kids version of a high-performance shortboard within the Ghost family.
A high-performance shortboard built within the Ghost Family.
Ridden by surfers like John John Florence and other team riders, the Shadow is engineered to deliver freedom, speed, and control across a broad range of wave conditions and sizes. Developed from the proven Phantom model, Jon refined the concept into a more performance-driven design while preserving the effortless flow and glide that made the Phantom stand out.
The Shadow combines the benefits of a wider, forward outline with the responsiveness and precision expected from a modern High Performance shortboard.
✪ Contemporary foil and outline enhance stability, paddle power, and natural speed generation, especially in weaker surf.
✪ Refined rocker paired with balanced bottom contours creates acceleration and supports tight, committed turns in a variety of conditions.
✪ Performs confidently in everything from beach breaks and point waves to reefs and slabs.
✪ Designed to help intermediate surfers progress while giving advanced surfers the sensitivity and performance they demand.
The Shadow uses a High Performance outline with the wide point closer to center rather than pushed back like many traditional HPSBs. The nose has been slightly refined and additional rocker added through the final 12 inches to maintain responsiveness and release through critical maneuvers.
A subtle hip increases sensitivity and looseness, while the slightly pulled squash tail tightens the turning arc and improves vertical surfing performance.
The tail rocker and bottom concave stay close to the Phantom design, delivering reliable drive and consistency in a wide range of everyday surf conditions.
Its thickness distribution separates the Shadow from many other HPSBs, carrying volume slightly forward of center without becoming excessive. Extra foam beneath the chest improves paddle power and adds lift under the front foot through slower sections, helping maintain speed and continuous flow.
